The Center for Disaster Philanthropy has awarded more than $90,000 to Catholic Charities of Central and Northern Missouri.

Catholic Charities received $91,506 to fund long-term disaster case management for survivors of the May 22, 2019, tornado that struck parts of Cole and Miller counties and June 2019 flooding in additional counties.

The revenue comes out of the center’s Midwest Early Recovery Fund.

In a Catholic Charities news release, administrators of the center said they have worked with the nonprofit before on similar projects.

“They were excellent grantees,” said Nancy Beers, fund program director. “We look forward to continuing this important work in Missouri to support those still struggling to recover from the storms of 2019.”

The grant will allow Catholic Charities case managers to continue in their roles of guiding clients through the recovery process and connecting them with the benefits and services needed to help them achieve self-sufficiency, according to the news release.

Catholic Charities has established a Disaster Relief Fund to help survivors of tragedies that occur within the community. To contribute to the fund, checks may be made payable to “CCCNMO” and mailed to P.O. Box 104626, Jefferson City, MO, 65110. Donations also may be made at cccnmo.diojeffcity.org/give.
